Electrification: the key to Europe's Energy Security and Affordability

The Electrification Alliance is pleased to invite you to “Watt’s Next: The Electric Pathway to a Competitive, Secure Industry in Europe”—a high-level conference bringing together policymakers, industry pioneers, and innovators. Our speakers will discuss how to break down persistent barriers and unlock Europe’s potential for secure, competitive, and sustainable growth.

The conference

The conference

Throughout the day, discussions highlighted what’s needed to scale industrial electrification. Breakout sessions turned strategy into action, and the day closed with a live recording of the Watt Matters podcast.

The  keynote presentations are available below:

The Electrification Staircase: A Framework for Progress

The Electrification Staircase: A Framework for Progress

A standout moment of the day was the unveiling of the Electrification Staircase, created by co-authors Dr Silvia Madeddu from Schneider Electric, Thomas Butler from the Regulatory Assistance Project (RAP) and William Drake from Liebreich Associates, and presented by co-authors Michael Liebreich and Adrian Hiel. This new framework provides a clear, structured way to understand where electrification can deliver the highest impact now, in the future and how Europe can prioritise solutions that replace fossil fuels effectively. Derived from the Hydrogen Ladder, the staircase will hopefully become a reference point for how we can electrify fast and efficiently.

You can access the Staircase here. Please do not hesitate to send comments and questions to staircase@electrification-alliance.eu.
